Unjust rivalry on the telecommunication facilities market

Are you sure that there are sixty seconds in one minute? But lately one of the IDT corporations announced that lots of corporations, which sell phone cards, give just 36 seconds instead of 60. In concordance with the statement done by some IDT company, many telephone card companies are become a party in unfair competition. Last year IDT/UTA (Union Telecard Alliance) commenced a suit against several companies-providers of prepaid phone cards attributing false advertisement and misleading commerce practices.

According to IDT press survey, some of their rivals just provide 60 percent of the declared minutes to the client. Last year Total Call International and IDT/UTA was blamed for illegal procedures by the group of phone corporations that included IDT Telecom Inc. and LLC. This brings to four the amount of accused groups that have resolved the enforcement proceedings initiated by IDT/UTA before, this year. Epana Networks, Inc., Dollar Phone Corp. and related companies, and Locus Telecommunications, Inc are also attracted into the assize. IDT/UTA's lawsuit against the residuary accused is still persisting in federal court in Newark, New Jersey. Recently I have found an article on one of telephone card related blogs where a softswitch manufacturer demoed his system. One of the characteristics he takes pride in was the ability to set the duration of the minute to any size. Another feature was to stochastically keep back a minute from the account. (more…)
